With the proliferation of HMDs and the popularity of games such as Pokemon GO, VR and AR technologies are officially hot commodities. While early iterations of these experiences are exciting and novel, the industry is still struggling with how to turn something ‘cool’ and ‘niche’ into a mainstream reality, and meet predictions that have so far not yet come to pass in early adoption numbers. Many enterprises stand at the precipice of delivering advanced AR/VR applications which will enable better business practices, such as in healthcare, engineering, manufacturing, retail, travel, and even marketing. But there is still the need to move beyond a gaming environment and into real world practicality. The bridge necessary to ingratiate AR/VR into everyday life is conversational capabilities. The ability to speak naturally, in one’s own native tongue, dialect and conversational-style, will help enmesh the user into the experience. This session will explore how developers can overcome the current lack of user interaction in VR/AR experiences and allow users greater control and immersion through conversation.
