Tharyn Valavanis
Immersive Experience Developer
Valorem
Bio
With more than twenty years of computer graphics experience and ten years as a developer, Tharyn brings the ability to communicate effectively and implement solutions, with designers, artists, and programmers alike. Early in his career, he worked as a Cinematic Artist and a Technical Director at the facilities Blur Studio and Blizzard Entertainment on video game titles such as Diablo II, Warcraft III, and World of Warcraft. Tharyn then transitioned to film and commercial VFX industry for more than a decade. While expanding his experience both as an artist and developer, he has learned to bridge the communication gap between the two skill sets to find unique solutions to complex problems. During his time in the film industry Tharyn was fortunate to serve as a CG Supervisor for Roland Emmerich’s blockbuster film "The Day After Tomorrow," a Technical Director for James Cameron’s Oscar-winning film "AVATAR," and a Supervising Lighting Director for Terrence Malick’s Oscar-nominated film, "Tree of Life." Currently, as a immersive experiences developer at Valorem, Tharyn is exploiting his skill set to push the visual capabilities of the HoloLens.
