Bio
Roman Ormandy is a software designer and an entrepreneur. He founded Caligari Corp in New York City only 3 years after he defected from the communist Czechoslovakia. Caligari’s flagship product, 3D authoring software trueSpace became the first integrated 3D design tool for Windows market. From 3D authoring, it evolved into a realistic, physics based, online VR collaborative environment complete with advanced avatars, at which point it was acquired by Microsoft. More recently he founded Embody Corp (www.embody.corp), focused on sensor based wearable assistants, grounded in neural science augmenting the more common AI approach. Roman holds an advanced degree in Artificial Intelligence. He did a post graduate work in Computational Linguistics at Charles University and was a long term collaborator with professor Walter Freeman, Berkeley University pioneer in Neural Science. He published in Wired Magazine, Venture Beat, VR Watch and other publications.
