Jack McCauley
Bio
Jack McCauley is an American engineer, hardware designer, inventor, video game developer and philanthropist. McCauley is best known for designing the guitars and drums for the Guitar Hero video game series, and as a co-founder and Chief Engineer at Oculus VR, which was later acquired by Facebook for $2 Billion. At Oculus McCauley led the team that designed and built the Oculus DK1 and DK2 virtual reality headsets. McCauley holds ten U.S. patents for inventions in software, virtual reality, motion control, computer peripherals, and video game hardware and controllers..

    There is no doubt that eye tracking will play a big role in pushing the VR industry forward. With so many VR leaders investing in eye-tracking and MEMs technology to evolve their equipment, and therefore, provide a greater experience to consumers, it's an exciting time to witness this technology race within the VR community as it develops. In this session, McCauley will discuss head tracking for virtual reality in depth, sharing his experience and research on what causes so many people to experience motion sickness when trying VR headsets, how VR affects our sensory systems and how to solve motion sickness when it comes to VR. Jack will also share his knowledge on Microelectromechanical systems (MEMS) technology and how all tracking systems require MEMs to function properly.
